The New Palestine boys tennis team swept Shelbyville 5-0 to win a Hoosier Heritage Conference match.

The Dragons have now won five straight matches — all by 5-0 scores. They are now 7-1 on the season and 3-1 in the HHC.

At singles, Brent Barrett won 6-0, 6-0; Jake Purcell won 6-0, 6-1; and Coltin Espich won 6-1, 6-1. The doubles team of Josh McKinney and Evan Rejer also had a 6-1, 6-1 win. The No. 1 doubles team of David Thompson and Ben Farley had a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory to finish the sweep.

“We played fairly well tonight, considering the high level we played at last night against Franklin Central,” coach Chris Hardin said.

The Dragons next play Saturday against Silver Creek and University in a triple-dual.

The Dragon JV also won 5-2.
