The New Palestine volleyball team won its season opener, rallying to beat Connersville 19-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-20 Monday at NPHS.

Allison Dennemann led the Dragons with 17 kills, five blocks and three aces. Kara Morris added 33 assists and four aces.

“We started off jittery, but once we got our nerves calmed, the girls came together to finish the match. Ally Dennemann lit it up from the outside,” NPHS coach Kelli Whitaker said. “This game has helped us learn what our strengths are and where we need to continue to grow.”

The Dragons are now 1-0 and next play Wednesday at home against Guerin Catholic.

The Dragon JV won 25-7, 25-17.
