Girls Junior Varsity Golf, Girls Varsity Golf · Golfers set school record

The New Palestine girls golf team set an 18-hole school record and won the New Palestine Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Dragons shot a 355 to win the invitational, barely beating Connersville.

“The consistency of their play was the key to victory,” NP coach Gregg Greene said.

Senior Abby Poole and junior Cassie Rooks each shot 86 to lead the Dragons. Freshman Mackenzi Black shot a 91, while Carly Jones and Sarah Rose each shot 92s to round out the Dragons’ scoring.

It was the Dragons’ first meet in their return to Greenfield’s Hawk’s Tail, their new home course.

“The girls are still learning their way around our new home course but still managed to set a new team 18-hole record,” Greene said.

The Dragons next play Monday against Whiteland and Knightstown.
