Girls track wins four individual HHC titles

The New Palestine girls track and field team won four individual Hoosier Heritage Conference championships at Wednesday's HHC meet at Mt. Vernon. The Dragons finished second as a team, tallying 110.5 points. Mt. Vernon won the title with 125. NP finished ahead of Greenfield-Central (107), Delta (99), New Castle (64.5), Yorktown (48.5), Pendleton Heights (44) and Shelbyville (25.5). Rylee Hurst and Abby Journay were 1-2 in the 400, with Hurst's winning time of 1:00.32 just 13 hundredths faster than Journay's runner-up time. Journay was also the runner-up in the 200. The Dragons' team of Courtney Study, Taylor Burke, Hurst and Journay also won the 4x400 relay (4:10.65). Rebecca Johnson was the HHC champion in the pole vault (10-0), with Savanna Baird finishing fifth. Journay won the high jump (5-2), making her a double conference champion. Hurst was second in the long jump and third in the 100. Study was fourth in the 800 and 1600. Placing sixth were Alaina Doran the 100 hurdles, Amelia Stone in the 3200 and Stiller in the long jump. Kayla Rieman tied for sixth in the high jump. Stiller Cadyn Brown was seventh in discus. Evelyn Kell was eighth in the 3200. The 4x800 relay of Margaret Barrett, McKenzie Hacker, Amelia Stone and Cami Massari finished third. The 4x100 relay team of Lynzie Stiller, Reagan Seal, Hacker and Abby Journay was fifth.
