Softball blanks Fishers

Cailyn Hurst threw a three-hit shutout Wednesday, leading the New Palestine softball team to a 7-0 victory over Fishers. The Dragons' offense came from three homers. Allie Blum hit a two-run blast in the third and a three-run homer in the fifth. Paige Ernstes followed with a two-run homer in the fifth. The Dragons tallied eight hits in the contest. Jersi Gross was 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Blum was 2-for-3 with two homers and five RBI. Ernstes was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Katie Hirschy and Maddie Engle were both 1-for-3, while Nyla Lewis was 1-for-1. Hurst struck out three and walked none in the victory. She faced three more batters than the minimum. The Dragons are now 14-1 on the season. They are back in action Thursday at home against Pendleton Heights, a game that will be broadcast at NewPalRadio.com.
