The New Palestine volleyball seniors.

The New Palestine volleyball team closed the regular season with a tough 25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13 loss to Mt. Vernon in a back-and-forth match.

After dropping the first set, the Dragons used a 9-2 run – much served by Sydney Robertson – to close out the second set. NP gradually pulled away in the fourth set to even the match again. In the third, MV scored the last two points in a back-and-forth tussle. In Set 5, the Dragons surrendered the first eight points, then rallied to tie the match at 13-13. MV scored the final two points to clinch.

The Dragons honored seniors Katie Bancroft, Jordan Brittsan, Allison Dennemann, Mia Long, Morgan Willard and manager Rachel Glover during the match.

The Dragons finish the regular season with a 24-6 record. They next play Thursday, Oct. 12 in the Greenfield-Central sectional against Richmond.

The Dragon JV won 25-14, 25-16 to finish a successful season.
